Duggy
Run an IPL-style auction for your tournament
The auction night is half the fun of a local tournament. Duggy Auctions gives you the real thing: a live projector screen, team budgets and squad rules enforced automatically, and remote bidding for owners who can't be in the room - without a volunteer sweating over a spreadsheet.
Everything auction night needs
- Live auction screen built for projectors and TVs
- Remote bidding - team owners join from their phones
- Budgets, squad sizes and base prices enforced automatically
- Player registration with photos and roles
- Unsold players re-listed in later rounds
- Final squads exported the moment the hammer falls
- First auction free - pay per event after that
From box cricket nights to society tournaments
Whether it's a 6-team box cricket league or a 100-player society tournament, the bottleneck is the same: tracking bids, budgets and squads live, in front of a loud room. Duggy runs the state machine so the auctioneer can run the show. Read the launch story in bookings and live auctions.
After the auction, the same app runs the tournament's money - kitties, fees and expenses - through cricket club accounting.
Frequently asked questions
How does a Duggy player auction work?
Register players, set team budgets and squad sizes, then run the live auction: each player comes up on the big screen, team owners bid in real time, and sold players land in squads with budgets deducted automatically.
Can team owners bid from their phones?
Yes - owners join from anywhere and bid live from their own devices, so an owner stuck at work can still fight for their opening batter.
Do we need a projector setup?
The auction screen is made for a projector or TV - player photo, base price, current bid and bidding team, updating live. A phone or laptop pointed at any screen works.
What does a cricket player auction cost?
Your first auction is free. After that, auctions are a paid add-on per event - no subscription needed for the tournament itself.
Do players need the Duggy app to be auctioned?
No - players are registered for the auction with name, photo and details; the app is only needed by organisers and team owners.
How many teams and players can an auction handle?
Configure teams, budgets, base prices and squad sizes to your tournament's shape - from 4-team box cricket nights to large society leagues.
Can we set player categories or base prices?
Yes - players carry base prices, and unsold players can be re-listed in later rounds so every squad fills.
What happens if two owners bid at once?
Bids are serialized server-side - the screen shows one authoritative current bid and bidder at all times, so there's no shouting-match ambiguity.
Can the audience watch along?
The auction screen is a shareable live view - point a projector at it in the room and share the link for anyone remote.
Does the auction tie into the tournament's money?
Runs on the same platform: after auction night the tournament's kitty, fees and expenses run through Duggy's tournament management and club ledger.
Do we need Duggy subscriptions to run one auction?
No - your first auction is free on any account, and after that auctions are paid per event, not per month.
Can we run a mock cricket auction first?
Yes - set up a test auction to rehearse the flow before the real night.
What equipment do we need on auction night?
One laptop or phone driving the auction, any TV or projector for the screen, and owners' phones for bidding - nothing else.
